Job Summary:
As a key member of the Kaiser Permanente team, this role is responsible for driving moderately complex projects, evaluating, selecting, and applying standard planning/architectural techniques, procedures, and standards. The successful candidate will assist with the development of templates and standards for planning and/or design, structure performance specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and constructability with a focus on safety, cost efficiency, and integration of technology. This role will perform design and development tasks of moderate scope, including functional programs, space program, room templates, space allocation rules, performance specifications, calculations, manuals, and coordination with hospital/medical facility users. The ideal candidate will serve as a resource to designers/drafts and less experienced architects/planners.

Key Responsibilities:

  2. Complete work assignments autonomously and support business-specific projects by applying expertise in subject areas and business knowledge to generate creative solutions. Collaborate cross-functionally and/or externally to achieve effective business decisions. Provide recommendations and solve complex problems. Escalate high-priority issues or risks as appropriate. Monitor progress and results.
  3. Facilitate planning and design projects by using judgment and discretion to develop solutions to resolve moderately complex problems. Establish a communication network between the project team and other internal and external personnel. Develop training materials for the team or consultants on strategies and concepts, coordination, and management of the support teams area of expertise.
  4. Support NFS program deliverables by facilitating moderately complex National Facilities Services (NFS) initiatives and projects from initiation through design phase with limited oversight from senior management. Develop, analyze, and manage moderately complex project plans, including scope identification and management, schedule, inter-dependencies, and resource forecast. Monitor overall project performance against plans, ensuring measurement of business benefits and outcomes, and make adjustments as needed.
  5. Contribute to consultants relationship management by providing technical guidance, coordination, and project-level supervision to designers/drafters/engineers and architects/planners/engineers. Independently obtain and apply comprehensive research knowledge on building codes and materials from vendors.
  6. Provide oversight for compliance by coordinating with other internal teams to ensure the enterprise facilities design standards development to ensure quality solutions.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Interior Design, Construction Management, Cost Estimating, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of experience in planning, architectural, design, engineering, CADD, hospital/medical facility, healthcare planning, construction estimating, or a directly related field. Alternatively, a minimum of eight years of experience in planning, architectural, design, engineering, CADD, hospital/medical facility, health and safety administration/management, construction estimating, or a directly related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. EDAC Certification.
  2. LEED Accredited.
