The Residential Support Specialist role is a part-time position dedicated to assisting our clients. Availability for rotating weekends and holidays is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise client activities in line with the established guidelines of New Paths policies and procedures.
2. Carry out job responsibilities with a strong emphasis on professionalism, safety for clients and staff, and accountability.
3. Strive to create a tranquil and supportive atmosphere that encourages positive and healthy behaviors.
4. Clearly and consistently document client activities in the station log book, broadcast, and/or email as required.
5. Report any violations promptly through the RMS system.
6. Accurately communicate incidents to clients, staff, and/or visitors using the documented incident reporting process.
7. Ensure thorough and precise completion of daily, weekly, and/or monthly checklists.
8. Track and document client departures from and returns to the facility in accordance with New Paths policies and procedures.
9. Provide both written and verbal updates to the incoming shift regarding all significant occurrences.
10. Assist clients with the self-administration of medications in a timely and accurate manner.
11. Conduct roll calls as scheduled and at random when necessary.
12. Accompany clients to and from scheduled activities, including meals and breaks.
13. Perform room inspections in accordance with established guidelines.
14. Execute physical searches as per agency policy and procedure.
15. Inspect client rooms for cleanliness and guide residents towards corrective actions if necessary.
16. Verify that assigned daily work tasks are completed by clients during each shift.
17. Engage in regular team supervision, meetings, and training sessions.
18. Collaborate effectively as a team member alongside Therapists, Recovery Coaches, Care Coordinators, and other Residential Advisors.
19. Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Support Supervisor and/or Clinical Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
1. A minimum of two years of experience in Human Services or an Associate's Degree in a related field.
2. Ability to demonstrate clear and concise writing skills.
3. Proficiency in communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred:
1. A Bachelor's degree in a human service or related field.
2. Experience in a residential environment or human service program.
3. Understanding of substance use disorder dynamics and treatment methodologies.
4. Familiarity with local Criminal Justice and Human Service Delivery Systems.
Physical Requirements:
Responsibilities are performed within a professional office environment, with access to various areas of the building using stairs. Regular use of a computer keyboard and some light lifting may be necessary. Occasional travel may be required for this position.
