Job Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse with ResCare Community Living, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with intellectual, developmental, or cognitive disabilities. Our team is dedicated to supporting individuals in achieving their goals and living fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 care to clients, ensuring their dignity and independence are maintained at all times.
• Monitor clients' vital statistics and report any abnormal findings to the case manager and physician.
• Administer medications, feedings, oxygen, and ostomy care as needed, and document the results of these interventions.
• Collaborate with other care professionals, such as Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists, to establish routines and ensure comprehensive care.
• Maintain infection control policies and procedures, reporting any possible communicable diseases or infections to the relevant authorities.
• Accurately document nursing actions and communicate with family members, case managers, and physicians to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Order supplies and medications as needed to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Ensure all patient needs are met in accordance with physician instructions.
• Monitor incidents involving individuals and complete incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain medical equipment and report any faulty equipment to the Durable Medical Equipment team for repair.

Requirements:

• Completed post-secondary coursework to facilitate licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• Knowledge of individual service plans, including understanding of client rights and health needs.
• Proof of current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in good standing from the state(s) of practice.
• CPR certification.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion.
• In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations.
• Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for several medical conditions.
