Job Summary:

As a Hospital Aide at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in our inpatient hospital setting. Under the indirect supervision of a Unit Supervisor and the direction of licensed staff, you will perform a variety of non-professional patient care duties, taking responsibility for assigned tasks and working collaboratively with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and report patient data, identifying changes in patient status and communicating effectively with licensed staff to implement care plans.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow.
  • Develop technical competence in basic nursing skills and the use of simple equipment, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
  • Work effectively on specialty units, demonstrating basic competencies and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Record patient data and nursing care activities in the medical record, adhering to Department/Unit/JCAHO standards and utilizing Department and Unit forms as required.
  • Utilize safety principles and standards, reporting incidents, work-related injuries, and unsafe equipment or environments to supervisors or other appropriate personnel.
  • Apply infection control principles and standards, reporting pertinent patient data and problems to licensed staff, charge nurses, or supervisors.
  • Assist during Code 500 (Chest compression and runner to lab) as directed, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and patient care.
Requirements:
  • Hospital Aide Training Program or documented completion of equivalent military training course; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) and experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within one month of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of Hospital Aide experience.
