The Association of Zoos & Aquariums is seeking a dedicated Animal Care Professional - Primates to join our esteemed team focused on the well-being of primate species.
Key Responsibilities:
The Animal Care Professional will be responsible for:
- Providing daily care and nutrition for assigned primate species.
- Conducting regular training sessions to promote positive behaviors.
- Maintaining clean and safe habitats for the animals.
- Observing and documenting animal behavior for health and enrichment purposes.
- Keeping accurate records of animal care and training activities.
- Collaborating with veterinary staff for health assessments and treatments.
- Operating utility vehicles as needed for animal care tasks.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A high school diploma or GED; an Associate's degree or higher is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of paid experience in animal care at an AZA-accredited facility.
- SCUBA and First-Aid certifications for specific responsibilities.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with guests.
- A self-motivated and goal-oriented approach to work.
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Experience in applying animal training techniques, including operant and classical conditioning.
- A thorough understanding of zoonotic diseases and their prevention.
