Job Summary

The New York University School of Professional Studies (NYU SPS) is seeking a highly skilled Career Development Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our career services department, you will play a vital role in guiding and advising students through the career planning, decision-making, and job searching processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students in evaluating their professional interests and skills, and developing goals at all stages in their professional and academic careers.
  • Develop and implement career programs, including planning, marketing, implementation, and assessment of program effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Work closely with employers to assist them with talent needs, utilizing employer resources available from job postings, recruiter-in-residence, resume books, career fairs/industry expos, and social media initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver career development programs, workshops, and events.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to students on resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in career services, career counseling, student personnel, human resources, recruitment, admissions, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing programs, seminars, events, and preparing training materials.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with a diverse population at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Industry experience representative of NYU SPS programs.
  • Experience working with international students and professionals in the workforce.
  • Experience using social media platforms and understanding surveys and assessment.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $79,000.00. New York University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
