Responsibilities of the Educational Support Specialist:

  • Understand students' behavioral patterns and triggers to offer proactive guidance and support before challenges arise.
  • Assist classroom teams in implementing individualized and group behavior management strategies, addressing off-task behaviors and defiance.
  • Provide immediate behavioral support and intervention, responding to crises as needed.
  • Facilitate student check-ins and resets when necessary.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress on Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives and aid in the preparation of quarterly progress assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree required (Bachelor's preferred).
    • Alternatively, completion of two years of college coursework (72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours).
    • Or a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Test.
  • High expectations for both behavioral and academic performance among all students.
  • Strong understanding of child development and educational methodologies.
  • Experience in student engagement and classroom management.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of students.
  • A commitment to serving students from historically underserved communities, with a significant portion of our student body being first-generation college aspirants.
