We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Access Specialist 2 to join our team at the University of Washington. As a key member of our Financial Access Clearance Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate insurance clearance for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the insurance clearance process for inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency services, hospitalization, and specialized procedures.
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits, and document progress in our electronic health record system.
- Refer uninsured patients for Medicaid/Charity eligibility screening, and communicate with referring providers to obtain referrals or initiate authorization.
- Prepare estimates of fees and review payment options with patients, and collect payments and process them using our cash drawer system.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, and work collaboratively with our team to achieve our goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in a medical office setting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
