Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is seeking a highly skilled Associate Energy Resource Planning Acquisition Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Resource Acquisition department, you will play a critical role in evaluating offers for clean energy resources through our request for proposals (RFP) process and identifying potential resources that can help us meet our clean energy goals and satisfy our capacity needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and economics, be comfortable with quantitative modeling, and possess the discipline to document assumptions and processes. You will work closely with our team to perform financial and energy portfolio analysis, leveraging tools and techniques from Microsoft Excel to Aurora, to identify a portfolio of potential resources that meet our needs at the lowest reasonable cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of financial forecasts related to revenue requirements, operating expenses, capital expenditures, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), and net income for potential new resources.
  • Perform long-term resource analysis under the direction of senior staff using spreadsheet models and programs such as Aurora and Plexos.
  • Develop and maintain input and output databases necessary to perform long-term resource planning analysis.
  • Research critical energy policy issues that may affect our long-term resource strategy.
  • Organize results of analysis and research projects.
  • Support resource acquisitions and development of written documents and presentations to effectively communicate results of research and analyses.
  • Perform miscellaneous analysis and research at the direction of senior staff.
  • Create communication materials, such as PowerPoint slides, charts, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical analysis.
  • Solid written, interpersonal, and group communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a supportive team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the energy-related industry, including complex analysis.
  • Experience performing statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage large data sets and use data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience creating and using database applications to support analysis.
  • Experience researching energy policy-related issues.
Additional Information

This role is for one opening posted at two different levels: 4808 and 4809 (Associate). At Puget Sound Energy, we value and respect our employees and provide them opportunities to excel. We offer a competitive compensation and rewards package, including a pay range of $69,600.00 - $108,100.00, and eligibility for annual goals-based incentive bonuses.
