POSITION SUMMARY: The Buyer is responsible for evaluating material needs based on actual and projected sales, ensuring the procurement of top-quality materials, components, and parts at competitive prices while adhering to delivery timelines. This role involves analyzing material requirements to establish when supplies will be necessary, in line with company protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category Spend Management: Employ Total Cost of Ownership principles to oversee assigned category expenditures.
- Supplier Relationships: Ensure alignment with organizational objectives such as On-Time Delivery, Quality, Cost, and Risk Management.
- Inventory Strategy: Formulate and communicate inventory strategies informed by data analysis, collaboration, and market insights.
- Purchase Order Management: Manage the creation, maintenance, and adjustments of purchase orders, including expediting and acknowledging dates.
- System Maintenance: Supervise supplier onboarding processes, part number creation, and maintenance of planning parameters.
- Non-conformance Management: Address supplier-related issues and ensure appropriate corrective measures are implemented.
- Invoice Reconciliation: Aid in the reconciliation of invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Purchasing Fundamentals: Comprehensive understanding of procurement, supply chain management, or sourcing principles.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel for effective data management.
- MRP Knowledge: Familiarity with MRP functionalities relevant to the position.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong teamwork and customer service capabilities.
- Logical Thinking: Competence in resolving practical issues through logical and critical reasoning.
- Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail.
- Priority Management: Ability to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred. Certifications such as CPM or CPIM are advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with business software including AS400, WS One Source, JD Edwards, Power BI, and Paradigm Nexus.
