Job Summary

The Patient Service Representative Scheduling (PSR Scheduler) plays a vital role in creating a seamless patient experience within an ambulatory clinic. This position is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, responding to high-volume phone calls, and navigating medical records to ensure accurate patient information. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling Work: Responds to incoming telephone calls, schedules internal and external referrals, and schedules in-person appointments, telehealth visits, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Accurate Documentation: Documents and routes calls to the proper departments, efficiently navigates medical records, and ensures patient information is up-to-date and accurately entered.
  • Communication: Communicates with the care team, supports staff on patient issues, and responds to outgoing telephone calls and faxed materials.
  • Registration: Responsible for patient registration, including entering demographics, insurance verification, and completing the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).
  • Preauthorization: Preauthorizes clinic-specific visits and procedures as needed.
  • MyChart Support: Assists patients with MyChart activation and support, including completing check-in online prior to the appointment.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • 1 or more years of direct customer service experience in a healthcare or contact center environment
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • High level of customer service skills, focusing on problem resolution
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
