Job Summary

The Crisis Counselor provides clinical assessment, recommendations, and referral services for individuals with acute mental health or substance abuse issues. This role requires a Master's degree in a mental health field and licensure or provisional licensure. The Crisis Counselor works with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess individuals with acute mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Develop and implement individual plans to address client needs and ensure safety.
  • Counsel individuals experiencing mental health crises, either in-person, virtually, or by phone.
  • Evaluate clients placed on 72-hour hold and make recommendations for release or detainment.
  • Refer clients to community agencies and determine involuntary detention standards.
  • Consult with mental health professionals, supervisors, and other staff regarding client status and disposition.
  • Work with clients' families to understand and address their problems.
  • Monitor client behavior and progress, reporting and documenting observations.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and utilization management activities.
  • Provide individual and group therapy services to patients on the CCH Psychiatric unit.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a mental health discipline or related field.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a licensed mental health professional.
  • Certifications as required by policy.
