Job Summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Recreation Center Assistant to support the development, planning, and implementation of recreational, cultural, and educational programs at the city's recreation centers. This role will assist recreation program staff in coordinating logistics and participating in youth services, senior assistance, recreation programs, special events, and other services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing programs and activities at small or large recreation centers.
  • Lead recreational activities, demonstrate sports procedures and techniques, and instruct participants in the rules of various games.
  • Assist with after-school programs, providing organized recreational activities and educational assistance.
  • Compile and maintain records, including attendance reports and revenue generated.
  • Provide information to participants and the public regarding recreation center functions and programs.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including processing registrations, disbursing schedules, and answering phones.
  • Transport youth to field trips and special events.
  • Instruct participants and enforce rules, regulations, and safety precautions.
  • Provide outreach, marketing, and distribution of program materials.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of recreation facilities and general programming.
  • Ability to work with children, youth, and adults.
  • Knowledge of sports and general rules.
  • Knowledge of first aid principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop activities and work with a multi-cultural community.
  • Ability to enforce recreation, program, and sporting regulations.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Knowledge of strong customer service principles and practices.
  • Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
Working Conditions
