Per Diem MFM Sonographer

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in a Per Diem capacity. As a key member of our Maternal-Fetal Diagnostic Center, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients, working closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, explaining procedures and providing education on medical ultrasound.
- Ensure accurate consent and declination processes are in place.
- Conduct ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, recording anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by physicians.
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures requiring ultrasound guidance.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and confidentiality of patient records.
- Code services performed and submit billing worksheets daily.
- Notify Patient Service Associates of additional services requiring authorization.
- Maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment, recognizing malfunctions and taking corrective action.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
- Maintain archives and records of scans.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Act in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner, respecting individual opinions and beliefs.
- Recognize and address ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to pregnant women, infants, and children.
- Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician in an OB/GYN and/or MFM setting.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
- ARDMS OB/GYN certified; RDMS OB/GYN registry preferred.
- Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- CPR certification required.
- Satisfactory completion of one of the following: at least two years in Allied Health Educational Program and one year on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
- Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
