Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled sUAS Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the processing and analysis of aerial data collected through small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS).


Key Responsibilities:
  • Post-process Position/Orientation System (POS) and LIDAR data.
  • Execute workflow processing software for point cloud generation, orthophoto production, data classification, and volumetric analysis.
  • Provide comprehensive training for clients on various GeoCue drone mapping systems and software.
  • Engage with clients to discuss the technical advantages of sUAS data collection compared to traditional methods.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer operations and a willingness to learn about imagery and LIDAR point cloud data processing workflows.
  • Operate both fixed and rotary wing small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS).
  • Assist clients in formulating effective drone mapping strategies.
  • Utilize GNSS equipment to set control targets.
  • Calibrate mapping cameras and LIDAR systems.
  • Perform repairs on drones as needed.
  • Travel to customer sites using a company-provided vehicle, which may involve long distances.

This position requires travel approximately 25% of the time to provide services and training at customer locations, often in varying weather conditions.

The remaining time will be spent at our office, where you will process and analyze data while offering technical support to our global clientele.


Essential Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with industry-standard LIDAR, GIS, survey, and CAD software such as GeoCue, LP360, Civil3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, QGIS, and Trimble Business Center is preferred.
  • Knowledge of orthophoto production workflows and related software tools is advantageous.
  • A degree in Engineering or Earth Sciences is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to self-study and prepare for the FAA Part 107 UAS pilot exam if not already certified.
  • Surveying experience is a significant advantage; licensure is a plus but not required.
  • A college degree is beneficial but not essential.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency is required.
  • Skilled in performing on-the-spot repairs.
  • Capable of working under pressure, especially during sUAS flights in front of clients.
  • Physically fit to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions and capable of transporting equipment through challenging terrains.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record; this position is subject to random drug testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must be organized, able to maintain accurate flight logs, and take clear, concise notes.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols is mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel internationally is required.
