Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter Journeyman / Foreman to join our team at Midwestern Mechanical Inc. This individual will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire sprinkler systems on commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work from blueprints to determine the types and placement of piping, valves, and heads for fire sprinkler systems.
  • Install and repair various types of piping, including iron, steel, copper, and PVC.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors or problems.
  • Operate powered equipment, including hand tools, stationary machines, and others.
  • Maintain a high quality initiative while completing assigned duties.
  • Respond to emergency on-call situations to resolve immediate work-related issues.
  • Order specialty tools and/or equipment from the Midwestern Mechanical tool room.
  • Test for leaks in new and repaired systems using compressed air and/or water.
  • Lawfully drive a motor vehicle and maintain a current driver's license to commute to job sites.
  • Provide daily direction to assigned apprentices on the job site and actively participate in their training and development.
Requirements
  • Available for overtime upon occasion.
  • Ability to maintain an active state and city license in all cities/states where work is performed.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with management, city officials, on-site customers, and other employees.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license, as well as obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Reliable transportation to get to and from the shop.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret written materials, perform basic mathematical computations, and use measuring tools.
