Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Services Technician to join our team at Wooster Community Hospital. As an Environmental Services Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

About the Role:

This is a part-time 2nd shift position that requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for prolonged periods. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing multiple cleaning tasks, collecting non-medical and medical waste, operating the waste autoclave, and labeling medical waste containers for collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by reporting unsafe conditions and/or maintenance concerns to the Environmental Services Supervisor
  • Clean units, discharge, and occupied areas according to procedure
  • Make unoccupied beds according to procedure
  • Spot wash walls, spot clean carpet, high dust areas according to policy/procedure
  • Stock toilet tissue, towels, and hand soap where needed
  • Perform wet mopping techniques according to established procedures
  • Use wet floor signs appropriately and remove them in a timely manner
  • Operate and maintain vacuum cleaners correctly
  • Handle trash according to departmental/hospital procedures and place it in proper containers
  • Keep cleaning carts clean, stocked, and ready to use
  • Keep tools/equipment ready for use and return them to their proper location after use
  • Perform additional area assignments and/or assist co-workers as needed

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods, and meet the physical demands of the position. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Attributes:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Institutional cleaning experience
  • Floor care maintenance experience
  • Good customer service skills

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $35,000-$45,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Work Environment:

This is a part-time 2nd shift position that requires occasional weekend and holiday work. The successful candidate will work closely with the Environmental Services Team to maintain a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
