Psychiatric Technician Lead

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Technician-Float to join our team. As a key member of our care team, you will provide direct support to patients experiencing psychiatric/mental health disorders, working under the direct clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Responsibilities- Monitor patients' daily functioning and assist in mental health symptom management
- Ensure safety of patients and staff during programming by constantly monitoring the milieu for potential safety risks and reporting issues appropriately
- Effectively use therapeutic approaches to manage milieus, reducing the use of restraint and seclusion when possible
- Complete documentation in a timely manner
- Plan and facilitate psychoeducational groups with patients when scheduled during shift
- Provide a therapeutic and healing environment, promoting the best patient experience and care
- Maintain current competency in psychiatric/mental health nursing, including safe use of restraints and seclusion, and effective de-escalation techniques
- High school graduate required
- Minimum 1 year experience in mental health, gained through academic college or university education in behavioral sciences, or equivalent study and/or experience
- Preferred 6 months previous experience in a mental health setting with pediatric population
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to communicate and make safe judgment calls in stressful situations
- Ability to multi-task, use time efficiently, and prioritize appropriately
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner in both verbal and written format and model a positive teamwork attitude
