POSITION SUMMARY:
The MRI Specialist is responsible for executing prescribed MRI imaging tasks at a technical level that does not necessitate constant oversight. This role requires the ability to competently conduct a range of technical procedures that demand independent judgment and initiative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately positions patients and conducts imaging procedures. Evaluates results and identifies any issues related to image quality. Takes necessary actions to rectify image quality concerns, including repositioning patients and repeating scans. Documents, transmits, and communicates scan outcomes. (50%)
- Reviews patient medical history and physician directives. Informs patients about procedures, equipment, and examinations to ensure their understanding and cooperation. (25%)
- When required, prepares and administers contrast agents and/or medications within the scope of practice. Continuously monitors patient conditions and responds to any changes as necessary. (15%)
- Prepares imaging equipment and necessary supplies. Selects suitable exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety protocols and performs essential quality control checks on equipment. Troubleshoots and addresses equipment malfunctions as needed. (10%)
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree; or Certification from a technical institution; or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Radiography Certification (R) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification and Registration (N) or Radiation Therapy Certification and Registration (RT) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or any certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Certification through ARRT or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARMRIT) is mandatory within 18 months of employment.
- CPR certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as an MRI Specialist.
