Role Overview
The Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience for our patients and their families. This position involves welcoming patients and visitors, managing patient information, processing payments, and facilitating smooth transitions during appointments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors with a friendly demeanor, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere.
  • Accurately check-in patients, updating necessary demographic and insurance details, and collecting co-pays.
  • Assist in the check-out process, providing visit summaries, follow-up appointment details, and necessary referrals.
  • Verify patient insurance status and address any discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage patient charges and payments, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
  • Utilize the Document Management system for scanning and uploading relevant documents.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and waiting area, ensuring a clean and professional environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing educational opportunities.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in a medical office environment is preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • A valid driver's license is required upon hire and must remain active throughout employment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn and implement Pediatric Associates' procedures and protocols.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Competence in reading and following both oral and written instructions.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems is advantageous.
  • Exemplary customer service skills, ensuring a professional interaction with all patients.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in all situations.
  • Proficient in filing systems and basic office equipment operation.

Working Conditions

  • Patient-facing role with a mix of office and potential remote work.
  • Indoor work environment with occasional travel to other office locations as needed.
  • Regular use of computers and office equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to lift or carry items weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
