Job Title: Medical Assistant/Patient Service Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant/Patient Service Specialist to join our team at Hawthorn Medical Associates. As a Medical Assistant/Patient Service Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist providers with patient care, ensuring patients are properly prepared for their visit and verifying relevant information.
  • Assist with in-office procedures, utilizing necessary techniques and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Answer phone calls, screen and triage patients, and perform other telephone duties as required.
  • Be knowledgeable about medical devices and equipment, as well as clinical systems, protocols, and policies.
  • Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens for testing, and maintain a clean work area.
  • Execute paperwork, including updating patient electronic medical records and following up with phone calls.
  • Coordinate mail processing, including receipt of record releases, copying of records, and mailing of records/correspondence.
  • Manage physician schedules, following up on patient no-shows and sending reminders as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a clinical training program, and/or work experience in a Medical Assistant capacity
  • National certification from AAMA, NMAA, or equivalent
  • Must be physically capable of lifting linens, supplies, and patients while utilizing proper body mechanics
  • CPR Certified
