Nursing Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Nursing Technician at Nuvance Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse, prioritizing assignments in consultation with the RN.
  • Perform procedures as identified by the Skills Checklist, such as splinting, EKGs, and wound care, and refer to and utilize appropriate resources.
  • Maintain a safe patient environment, adhering to Norwalk Hospital Policies and Procedures.
  • Self-direct, offer assistance with unit needs, and cover other team members as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and coworkers within the scope of your responsibilities in a courteous manner.
  • Observe and report to the Registered Nurse all changes in patient condition, observations, or occurrences of an unusual nature in a clear and concise manner.
  • Document accurately patient data on appropriate forms, such as the ED Flow Sheet.
  • Obtain necessary information to carry out patient care assignments, such as report and/or active order profile sheets.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a Nursing Assistant or EMT certification in the State of Connecticut.
  • Zero to six months of experience in a healthcare setting.
