JOB SUMMARY: The
Research Associate:
DARE-KY will undertake investigations in the field of soilless agriculture, concentrating on nutrient utilization, microbial interactions, and the assembly and metagenomics of native microorganisms.
This position is funded through a grant.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Execute research experiments focusing on nutrient application in soilless agricultural systems
- Oversee the maintenance of aquaponics and hydroponics facilities
- Gather and preserve research specimens
- Conduct water quality assessments
- Support students in laboratory methodologies
- Ensure the upkeep of laboratory instruments and supplies
- Collaborate on the development of research protocols
- Aid in data analysis and the preparation of presentations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.S. in a relevant discipline
- Background in aquaponics or horticulture
- Familiarity with laboratory apparatus
- Valid driver's license
WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties will be performed in both laboratory and agricultural settings, necessitating the capability to lift over 50 pounds.
