The HVAC Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems along with all mechanical apparatus within the facility. This position collaborates closely with the Chief Engineer to guarantee optimal functionality of the building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor the operational status and control metrics of all HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Enhance and uphold energy efficiency in building operations, focusing on electrical, water, and gas usage.
- Oversee and coordinate with the chiller maintenance contractor, emergency generator contractor, and water treatment contractor.
- Engage in and supervise routine repairs and urgent maintenance tasks for HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Address unscheduled maintenance requests, including plumbing emergencies, minor equipment issues, temperature discrepancies, electrical repairs, and minor structural fixes (e.g., ceiling, flooring, doors).
- Ensure all building equipment is functioning to maintain a comfortable indoor climate.
- Conduct and coordinate preventive maintenance while keeping detailed records of all building equipment.
- Responsible for replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, filters, ballasts, and similar tasks.
- Proactively inspect the premises for deficiencies and initiate necessary repairs (e.g., stained ceiling tiles, malfunctioning doors, broken restroom fixtures).
- Respond to emergency situations after hours on a rotational schedule.
- Foster and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, emphasizing preventive maintenance, centrifugal chiller operations, energy management, generator operation, and troubleshooting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Universal Refrigeration Certification.
- Formal technical training in HVAC is preferred.
- Strong skills in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience with compressor replacements.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to prioritize tasks and function as a self-starter while being a motivated team player.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift weights ranging from 50 to 100 pounds.
- Capability to climb ladders.
- Must pass a drug screening and a criminal background check.
