Role Description

The Assistant Coach for the Girls' Junior Varsity Basketball Team will report directly to the Director of Athletics and will play a crucial role in supporting the Girls JV basketball program. Key responsibilities include assisting the head coach during practices, inspiring student-athletes, and imparting game strategies. This position promotes fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork within the sport of basketball. The role requires travel, weekend commitments, and evening availability. The seasonal compensation is $16.00 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of $4,400.00.

The Assistant Coach must exemplify high standards of professionalism and communication. Essential qualities include organizational skills, adaptability, and a genuine passion for mentoring high school students. Effective interaction with students, parents, and staff, especially in high-pressure situations, while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient is vital. This individual must uphold the values of education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and management of the Girls JV basketball program.
  • Ensure adherence to Branson and League policies regarding athletic activities.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop practice and game schedules.
  • Maintain a safe environment for student-athletes.
  • Supervise students during games, ensuring compliance with rules and behavior standards.
  • Engage professionally with students, staff, parents, and officials, resolving conflicts with diplomacy.
  • Represent Branson positively in all community interactions.
  • Oversee the maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Provide input on uniforms, equipment, and inventory management.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete timecards in a timely manner, and stay current on certifications.
  • Attend all practices and games punctually, seeking approval for team-related expenses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • One to two years of coaching experience in basketball.
  • CPR Certification through the American Red Cross.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Experience in engaging with diverse groups.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting, mobility, and endurance to assist athletes.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and carry equipment.
  • Strength to lift and move objects, flexibility for bending, and adaptability to noisy environments.
