About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team at Mercy Health. As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and support under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing educational, vocational, and recreational programs established by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients and their families in continued occupational therapy programs and the care of adaptive equipment.
  • Observe and report patients' responses to treatments and progress to the Occupational Therapist.
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare team members to discuss patient information and plan treatment programs.
  • Evaluate clients' daily living skills and capabilities to determine their abilities and limitations.
  • Design and adapt equipment in the working and living environment.
  • Perform clerical duties, including taking inventory, answering the phone, and completing forms.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and notify appropriate personnel if necessary.
  • Stay up-to-date with current developments and new technology in occupational therapy and provide in-services on continuing education information to other staff members.
  • Precept students from participating colleges or universities and participate in the performance evaluations of other staff.
  • Provide formal orientation to new Occupational Therapy Assistants and/or Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Adhere to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
  • Certification in the State of Ohio (or eligibility).
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with physicians, patients, and families, and analytical abilities sufficient to evaluate patient condition, capabilities, and progress.
  • CPR certification.
