KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exhibit outstanding customer service and set a professional example for sales and stocking personnel by actively engaging on the sales floor.
  • Promote our products in an engaging, informative, and enthusiastic manner, sharing insights and recommendations during customer interactions. Regularly provide samples.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Advise on grocery items with expertise, offering alternatives when necessary.
  • Establish retail pricing while adhering to budgetary constraints, suggesting adjustments to management when appropriate.
  • Ensure a consistent supply of samples or testers.
  • Foster strong relationships and maintain open communication with all suppliers.
  • Regularly update order boards and guides for suppliers, reflecting new items, discontinued products, pack size changes, and other relevant updates.
  • Handle quality and supply challenges professionally and swiftly, following established procedures for credits and returns to maintain financial integrity.
  • Stay informed about recalls, regulatory matters, and labeling definitions (organic, humane, non-GMO, etc.).
  • Maintain inventory levels according to established standards, avoiding stock shortages or excess.
  • Conduct category management by analyzing sales data and considering replacements for underperforming items, while being aware of industry trends.
  • Process customer special orders efficiently.
  • Identify damaged or unsellable products and assess financial responsibility promptly.
  • Ensure the grocery section meets high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and merchandising.
  • Create and maintain clear and accurate signage and shelf talkers for grocery products.
  • Plan and coordinate promotions with the grocery manager, ensuring timely product orders and negotiating vendor sampling allowances.
  • Oversee merchandising support for grocery, including displays and signage, ensuring items are stored neatly and accurately.
  • Review daily sales performance, comparing it with historical data to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Prepare for and conduct departmental inventories according to the store's schedule, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage database entries accurately, ensuring new items are added correctly and inventory levels are adjusted for discrepancies.
  • Communicate daily with receiving and stocking teams to ensure smooth product flow and accuracy in orders and invoices.
  • Participate in safety training and submit records by the required deadlines.

STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
A college diploma and significant experience in grocery procurement, merchandising, retail, or wholesale (minimum of 2 years).

Physical Requirements:

This role involves regularly lifting and transporting loads of 15-50 lbs, with intermittent standing, walking, bending, reaching, sitting, and occasional climbing or twisting. There may be occasional exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions.


Skills:
In-depth knowledge of natural food products in the grocery sector. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills to engage with diverse groups, including vendors, staff, and customers.

Understanding of retail business operations, including margin calculations, time management, self-motivation, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in

MS Word and Excel.

Language Proficiency:
Fluency in English and professional communication skills are essential.
