Job Responsibilities

As an Occupational Health Nurse at SSM Health, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for our employees. Your primary responsibilities will include providing treatment for job-related injuries and illnesses, conducting new hire health screenings, respirator fit testing, and immunization clinics. You will also ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety laws and regulations, design and implement training programs to ensure employee safety, and use the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide your response to evolving health and nursing needs.

You will work closely with colleagues to identify areas of safety risk and monitor trends and causes of employee safety events. Your expertise in occupational health nursing will enable you to provide employee counseling and referrals for occupational injuries and illnesses as well as other health-related matters.

To succeed in this role, you must have a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing. One year of experience as a Registered Nurse is also required. You must be able to lift/carry and push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally, and stand and walk constantly. A Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory. You must also possess a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or a Compact State.

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year.
