Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough nutrition evaluations for all patients utilizing the Nutrition Care Process, tailoring nutrition plans to meet individual needs, including cultural and age-specific considerations.
  • Perform routine Nutrition-Focused Physical Examinations and nutrition interviews to assess the suitability of therapeutic diets.
  • Develop and review enteral and parenteral nutrition prescriptions, providing recommendations as necessary.
  • Assess the effectiveness of nutrition interventions and modify them as needed to achieve desired health outcomes.
  • Engage in facility Nutrition At Risk meetings to evaluate individuals at higher risk requiring regular interdisciplinary assessments.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular communication with the interdisciplinary team through meetings and other communication methods. Organize and announce departmental meetings as required.
  • Complete necessary documentation, reports, and quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with dietary department policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with food service management to ensure safe and sanitary food preparation practices are followed.
  • Provide nutrition-related training sessions as requested.
  • Review and approve facility menus bi-annually to ensure nutritional adequacy in line with dietary guidelines.
  • Safeguard user ID codes and passwords for accessing patient information and report any suspected breaches.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient health information and report any violations promptly.
  • Adhere to established infection control protocols at all facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field, along with completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
  • Current registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, along with ongoing continuing education.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience in clinical dietetics is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary to travel to various facilities under different weather conditions.
