Job Title: Local Account Representative

The Starmark Local Account Representative plays a crucial role in marketing and acquiring new funeral home and crematory customers in targeted truck route delivery zones and out of delivery route drop-ship zones. This position requires excellent communication and sales skills to effectively promote Starmark's products and services to funeral directors and their profession.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent Starmark's products and services with a comprehensive understanding of how products are used in the funeral services and provide solutions to customers.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas through successful implementation of sales and marketing strategies.
  • Meet weekly quota of new customer accounts.
  • Routinely make cold calls, send texts and emails, direct postal mailings, and approve samples to get new funeral home and crematory customers in targeted truck route zones.
  • Provide support to Service Center Director including but not limited to: taking and processing orders, preparing and sending correspondence and marketing materials, ordering and managing inventory, verifying website accuracy, and ensuring customer needs are fulfilled on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Accurately collect and record customer data into CRM.
  • Collaborate with the Service Center Director on the delivery of samples to funeral home and crematory customers.
  • Attend funeral conventions and events as needed.
  • Exhibit regular and predictable attendance.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area.
  • Assure safe practices are implemented and followed.
  • Adhere to Starmark Local's values, principles, and policies as published in the Starmark Local Team Member Handbook.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate high personal integrity and the ability to work with and honor Funeral Directors and their profession, understanding confidentiality and respect for personal space and boundaries.
  • Display comfort in the utilization of all forms of communication including but not limited to: calling, texting, emailing, social media, handwritten notes, and postal mailing.
  • Must be a team player who willingly and actively supports the efforts of others to accomplish company objectives.
  • Possess ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrate adeptness to be extremely detail oriented, highly organized, and to work with the highest level of accuracy in all work completed.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter that can work individually or successfully within a team setting.
  • Ability to retain and recall product knowledge.
  • Strong phone contact skills and active listening.
  • Demonstrate excellence in technological skills required to perform responsibilities (including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.) and engages in continuing education to maintain this competence.
  • Mathematical Skills - above average mathematical skills are needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A high school diploma/GED with additional relevant formal education or equivalent experience is required.
  • Formal education or equivalent experience in sales, marketing, management, or business is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the funeral services a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend and twist for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs., and otherwise maneuver product weighing up to 200 lbs. using proper provided equipment (forklift, pallet jack, casket jockey) to successfully manage inventory and load trucks (upon completion of forklift training and certification program).
  • Demonstrates ability to travel for sales calls, conventions, training and/or to support other locations during times of vacation/need up to 75% of the time.
