Juneau, Alaska, United States Oracle Full time
Job Overview

Oracle's Fusion Applications (FA) represents a premier suite of Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions encompassing essential business applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), among others.

This enterprise-grade application suite is pivotal to Oracle's value proposition.

Despite the success of Fusion Applications, its foundational architecture relies on an on-premise Fusion Middleware stack that has remained unchanged since its inception.

We are the Fusion Applications Technical Architecture team, tasked with crafting the next-generation architecture (codenamed Spectra) that adheres to cloud-native principles and operates within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

The transition from a monolithic structure to a modern cloud-based microservices architecture presents exciting opportunities to engage with a diverse array of cutting-edge technologies and OCI services.

This evolution necessitates the establishment of improved processes and practices as we shift towards a software-as-a-service development model, incorporating industry-standard developer workflows, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipelines, secure deployment methodologies, and a DevOps culture.

In the context of the new Spectra architecture, ensuring service resilience is paramount to maintaining customer satisfaction.
Consequently, we are developing a novel cloud-native service that enables teams to engage in Chaos Engineering in a seamless and self-service manner.

Our mission is to equip all services to withstand both anticipated and unforeseen disruptions in production, thereby enhancing service resilience and promoting DevOps excellence.

At this juncture, we seek highly motivated and skilled software developers with diverse levels of experience and expertise to join our team.

As is customary in service teams, this role will involve a periodic on-call rotation.

Career Level: IC3

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze problem scenarios and customer needs, translating them into actionable features.
  • Develop and manage CI and CD tools/pipelines while collaborating with a broader developer tools organization.
  • Write high-quality backend code, including validation tests, utilizing languages such as Java and Python.
  • Engage with cloud-native technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and service mesh.
  • Utilize PyTorch and/or recommendation engines to integrate machine learning capabilities into Chaos Engineering.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, adhering to best engineering practices with a focus on performance, scalability, resilience, and security.
  • Foster collaboration and contribute to an inclusive and diverse work environment to cultivate a positive workplace culture.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of software development experience.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and computer science fundamentals.
  • Exceptional coding, debugging, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience with scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience in designing and implementing REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with PyTorch and major frameworks for recommendation engines is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of open-source tools and their integration.
  • Experience with CICD pipelines.
  • Background in DevOps culture, including participation in on-call rotations and experience in minimizing operational challenges.
