As a key member of our Publishing Business & Legal Affairs department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Sr. Director, Business Affairs Administration, Publishing in providing business and legal affairs contract administration support for our US publishing teams.
Key Responsibilities- Contract Administration: Manage contract administration responsibilities for a subset of our US publishing business, including interacting with other departments to ensure proper administration of contracts and related deliverables.
- Contract Summaries: Prepare contract summaries and work cross-functionally with various internal departments on songwriter client inquiries in collaboration with A&R, Copyright, Royalty, Client Services, and/or Finance.
- Reporting and Tracking: Assist with preparing and maintaining reports and tracking mechanisms, including tracking new agreements, upcoming options and expirations, delivery requirements, advance triggering events, recoupment positions, and other material terms.
- Invoice Preparation: Prepare and track invoices for contractual payments for publishing deals across the US publishing business.
- File Maintenance: Maintain publishing files and records in accordance with our document storage and retention policy, including participation in various technology initiatives.
- Support to Publishing Business & Legal Affairs: Provide support to the rest of the Publishing Business & Legal Affairs department as projects and needs arise.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of professional experience in the music publishing business, preferably in rights management.
- Critical Thinking and Multi-Tasking: Ability to think critically, multi-task, and perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with tight and frequently changing timeframes.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to distill complex contractual concepts into simple terms and timely and accurate assessment of contractual language.
- Adaptability and Proactivity: Proactive, adaptive, coachable, and positive attitude.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and self-directed, able to turn ambiguity into actionable plans.
- Technical Skills: Excellent computer aptitude and reasonably proficient with MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Adobe Acrobat PRO, Outlook, and cloud-based document management platforms. Experience with JIRA and Salesforce a plus.
