Controller Job Description

Kaufman Hunt, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team. As a key member of our accounting and finance organization, you will play a critical role in the continued growth and development of our company.

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for the full cycle close and all reconciliations of accounts. This leader will manage the outside accounting firm who handles the day-to-day accounting and will also be a hands-on manager who will ensure proper accounting of business results, drive continuous process optimization to support the company's rapid growth, and improve the quality of financial data to drive better business decisions.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the period-end GL close and reporting cycles of domestic and international entities
  • Financial Reporting monthly to Executive Leadership Team
  • OPEX, CAPEX and forecast preparation by department
  • Monitor and report EBITDA
  • Manage the outside accounting firm and in-house accountant, as well as payroll processing
  • Possess the ability to develop and implement internal financial controls
  • Manage the ERP system, while working with other departments on appropriate workflows
  • Tax planning with the aid of outside accounting firm
  • Implement and manage a Duty Drawback program
  • Inventory management, audits, and process improvements
  • Administration of domestic and international insurance policies
  • Cost management over domestic and International 3PL's
  • Manage preparation of required materials for tax; serve as primary contact with outside accounting firm
  • Maintain expertise in applicable accounting principles and ensure that new accounting guidance is appropriately considered and implemented
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Leadership Team
Requirements:
  • 5 or more years corporate accounting experience
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Experience working in high growth and high-volume eCommerce business
  • Experience with High Volume of Credit card transactions, Processing and Accounts payable
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, tax code and relevant compliance procedures
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a result-driven environment
  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
  • Experience with managing the corporate audit process
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, NetSuite experience is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Word, and Power Point
  • Expert knowledge with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of internal control policies and procedures

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
