Position Overview
The Automated Systems Technician is responsible for overseeing the functionality and efficiency of the automated production line, addressing any issues, malfunctions, or delays to ensure optimal output levels.

This role involves close collaboration with Biomedical Engineers (BME) to tackle challenges that necessitate equipment servicing or upkeep.

Key Responsibilities
The primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Operating the automated production line throughout all operational cycles.
  • Ensuring a smooth flow of specimens on the automation line.
  • Collaborating with BME on equipment-related issues requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Facilitating communication between the business unit and vendors to identify, document, and resolve technical issues.
  • Partnering with Specimen Management, Technical teams, and Biomedical Engineers.
  • Effectively communicating throughout the specimen processing workflow.
  • Documenting all maintenance, hardware, and software modifications as necessary.
  • Completing all required Compliance Training for the Technical Operations role.
  • Coordinating National Quality Assurance and College of American Pathologists standards for Technical Operations, both manual and automated.
  • Understanding all departmental functions thoroughly.
  • Participating in special projects as needed.
  • Tracking and reporting metrics essential for monitoring productivity, defects, and maintenance, including applicable control charts.

Qualifications
Associate's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.

1. A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred but not mandatory.

2. Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot highly automated systems, with the capability to differentiate between hardware and software issues or combined causes of malfunctions.

3. Proficient in PC skills, particularly with MS Office applications, especially Excel.

4. A background in medical or production environments is preferred but not essential.
