Job Title: District Park Manager

Travis County, TX is seeking an experienced leader to manage, plan, organize, and supervise projects and teams towards furthering our mission of enhancing the quality of visitors' lives through diverse outdoor experiences, connections to regional Texas history and culture, and stewardship of natural resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the maintenance and operation of all parks and preserves within the district, including long- and short-term maintenance, operations, and policy.
  • Develop and coordinate annual work plans, provide standard operating procedures, protocols, training, facility inspections, and proper documentation of work and quality control standards to ensure that standards and goals are maintained.
  • Oversee and manage visitor services for all parks, including user fee collection programs, ensure accountability through effective audit programs, develop and implement standards and guidelines for providing visitor services, and ensure that factual and accurate information is provided to park visitors.
  • Manage park safety programs, including coordinating law enforcement and medical services with Park Ranger Chief, ensure sound safety programs, oversee safety programs, ensure safety in the workplace, and ensure compliance with the Federal Endangered Species Act.
  • Plan, develop, and administer programs, policies, and annual work plans, track statistical data, prepare administrative reports, and document work activity.
  • Supervise subordinate supervisors, recruit, hire, counsel, discipline, reward, or recommend termination of regular or seasonal staff, prepare work schedules, conduct performance appraisals, and ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Supervise support staff, evaluate staff job performance, coordinate and prioritize and schedule assignments, and authorize staff productive and non-productive work hours, orient and train staff, including assignments and distribution of workload to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Prepare short and medium-range plans, provide input into and assist in writing medium to long-range park plans, adapt operations to approved system-wide plans, provide input into the Parks Master Plan development for individual parks and the park system, and work in cooperation with other Park District Managers to coordinate operations.
  • Communicate and interface with citizens, public and private entities, and special interest groups, ensure coordination and cooperation among groups, and may address civic, conservation, and natural resources groups on park operations.
  • Coordinate with outside organizations for various sporting and other special events within the parks.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Business Administration, Turf Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Biology, Conservation, Geology, Wildlife Management, or other related Life Science discipline.
  • Five (5) years of experience in park management, including two (2) years of mid- to senior-level supervisory or management experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
