Job Title:

Critical Care Physician - Anesthesiology Faculty Position

Job Summary:

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a critical care physician for a faculty position to provide critical care services for patients at University Hospital, Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital, and other clinical venues.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide critical care services for patients in a variety of clinical settings.
  2. Participate in call coverage and teaching and instruction of residents and medical students in critical care medicine.
  3. Oversee and direct patient care provided by Advanced Practice Providers.
  4. Participate in administrative duties and committee service as assigned.
  5. Provide resident training in clinical settings and didactic lectures, simulation training, and/or workshops as assigned.
  6. Pursue scholarly activity sufficient to stay abreast of modern technology and medical advances in anesthesiology.
Requirements:
  • Active critical care practice in the past 12 months is required.
  • Expertise or prior experience with liver transplantation, cardiothoracic surgery, lung transplantation, and ECMO is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to learn and become independent with ECMO is required.
  • MD, DO, or Foreign Equivalent.
  • Texas Medical License or eligible to obtain.
  • Board Certification or board eligible in critical care medicine through any primary specialty board (Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery).
  • Valid DEA Registration Number (Controlled Substance Registration Certificate).
