In partnership with the Athletics Director, the Head Coach is instrumental in fostering ethical conduct, promoting sportsmanship, and ensuring a harmonious balance between academic success and athletic performance. This part-time position operates within budgetary limits while striving to fulfill team needs and uphold institutional regulations and student conduct standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Director in the recruitment of assistant coaching staff.
- Identifying and attracting student athletes, facilitating their enrollment journey.
- Organizing tryouts and selecting potential team members.
- Planning practice sessions and competitions, subject to Director approval.
- Preparing and submitting team rosters and required documentation prior to events.
- Managing uniform distribution and overseeing off-season training programs.
- Leading player conditioning efforts and developing game strategies.
- Maintaining accurate records and statistics.
- Communicating contest outcomes to local media outlets.
- Coordinating athlete recognition initiatives.
- Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes.
- Assisting with travel arrangements for the team.
- Enforcing eligibility criteria and institutional regulations.
- Conducting post-season evaluations and team surveys.
- Participating in coaches' meetings and additional training sessions as required.
- Carrying out other assigned responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of one year of coaching experience at the collegiate level in volleyball.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Familiarity with NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA regulations regarding student athletes.
- Proficient coaching methodologies and recruitment abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership capabilities and knowledge of supervisory practices.
- Commitment to respecting and valuing diverse academic environments.
