Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN to join our team in the Women's Health Center. As a Medical Assistant or LPN, you will provide assistance with patient examinations and treatments under the direction of a registered nurse or provider.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Assist with treatments ordered by the provider, performing select clinical duties as supervised.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts, preparing treatment rooms for examination.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  • Manage materials and supplies, ordering and stocking as needed, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Document the provider's encounter with patients, listing diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated.
  • Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent, or 10 years of work experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near and far, and to identify colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, and repetitive movements.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting and moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect odors.
  • Occasional driving.
Required Certifications and Licenses
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One of the following certifications: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), Medical Assistant (RMA), Medical Assistant Certification (MAC), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
