We are seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join our team at Kiewit Corporation. As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of cranes in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate cranes to lift and move materials and other objects.
- Plan all lifts and take complete charge of all safety pertaining to set up and knockdown, operation of crane and proper use of capacity charts.
- Perform rigging inspection and daily equipment inspection.
- Respond accordingly to both hand and verbal commands from rigger or helpers.
- Observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property.
- Read boom angle and drum rotation indicators.
- Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; or determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools.
- Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required.
- Ability to move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
- Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site.
- Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical and background check.
The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
