Job Title: Assistant Director for Safety, Security, Health, and Wellness

University Housing at the University of Tennessee invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Safety, Security, Health, and Wellness. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Safety, Security, Health, and Wellness will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing policies, procedures, and training programs to address a variety of safety and health issues. This includes conducting site safety audits, developing security protocols, and enforcing safety policies that align with campus, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and complaints related to safety and health.
  • Develop and implement security protocols to ensure safe living environments.
  • Establish and enforce safety policies that align with regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate atmospheric conditions and develop exposure control strategies.
  • Interpret complex standards and create defensible strategies.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or Public Health. You will also need a minimum of seven years of related managerial experience in industrial hygiene, safety, and health program management, preferably in higher education, public sector, consulting, or manufacturing. CIE certification is required or must be obtained within the first two years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in one of the Sciences or a related field is preferred. CIH, CIE, CSP, or similar certifications are also preferred.
