Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily health assessments to monitor the well-being of children boarding the vehicle.
- Safeguard and manage children's medications, ensuring proper documentation and handling procedures are followed.
- Oversee the safety and supervision of children during transportation, including the proper use of child safety restraints and adherence to transportation policies.
- Assist the driver during emergencies and ensure the vehicle remains clean and sanitary.
- Implement and enforce bus conduct rules while engaging children in educational activities that support their readiness for school.
- Act as a communication bridge between parents and center staff regarding children's needs and upcoming events.
- Facilitate child engagement through interactive activities such as songs, stories, and positive dialogues.
- Ensure that children are released only to authorized individuals as per the documentation in their files.
- Provide temporary relief to classroom staff under the supervision of qualified personnel when needed.
- Offer interpretation services during classroom coverage, home visits, and parent-teacher meetings as required.
- Support the center by fulfilling staff/child ratios in various areas, contingent upon training and qualifications.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the building and playground alongside the driver or janitorial staff.
- Supervise and transport children and parents during events such as meetings, field trips, and health visits.
- Participate in training focused on serving children with disabilities or special needs in accordance with their IEPs or IFSPs.
- Contribute to recruitment efforts for children with disabilities.
- Provide support and technical assistance to other center locations, which may involve travel.
- Attend all required staff meetings, training sessions, and program activities.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED is required based on state childcare licensing standards.
- A CDA credential is preferred or must be pursued for classroom coverage.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours is essential.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
- Reliable transportation to and from work is necessary.
The role requires meeting various physical demands, including occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs, standing for extended periods, and navigating different environments. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Tools and Equipment:
- Utilization of phones and computer systems.
- Operation of fax machines, copiers, and calculators.
- Familiarity with first aid equipment and fire extinguishers.
Employment with UMOS is contingent upon passing a criminal background check, physical examination, and completion of necessary training programs prior to engaging with children. Compliance with health screenings and random drug testing is also required.
