Role Summary:
The Preschool Teacher is tasked with overseeing the well-being of children while designing and implementing classroom activities aligned with the Hearts and Hands curriculum. This role is crucial in fostering a safe and nurturing environment for young learners. Teachers are required to submit lesson plans by the designated date for review and must engage with parents under the guidance of the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt curriculum to cater to the developmental stages of children in their assigned age group, ensuring alignment with the educational philosophy of Hearts and Hands.
- Plan, oversee, and execute the educational program in accordance with established objectives and values.
- Prepare and submit lesson plans, monthly newsletters, and material requests to the Director by the specified deadline.
- Design class activities that address the individual needs and learning styles of each child.
- Foster a respectful and supportive classroom atmosphere, serving as a positive role model.
- Maintain a dynamic learning environment that evolves with the children's growth and interests.
- Participate in all required staff meetings, training sessions, and parent workshops to enhance program effectiveness.
- Monitor the classroom environment to ensure safety and adherence to Hearts and Hands values.
- Guide and mentor parent volunteers to better understand the needs of the children.
- Complete assigned tasks as directed by the Director, including maintaining cleanliness and organization in the classroom.
- Ensure timely communication with the Director regarding attendance and any changes in employment status.
- Maintain a clean and orderly classroom, ensuring all personal items are secured at the end of the day.
- Oversee the health and safety of all children, including administering medication as necessary, while identifying and addressing any potential hazards.
- Engage in daily classroom activities, including supervision, curriculum planning, and facilitating creative and educational play.
- Participate in routine cleaning and maintenance of classroom materials and facilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, with relevant educational units in early childhood education or child development.
- Experience in a licensed childcare setting is preferred.
- Possession of a Child Center Permit as mandated by educational authorities.
Additional Requirements:
- Criminal background check and fingerprint clearance.
- Good physical health to meet the demands of the role.
- Current health screening and TB test clearance.
- Proof of immunizations and CPR/First Aid certification.
- Completion of mandated reporter training.
