Position: Chief Nursing Officer

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a licensed Registered Nurse who plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing the nursing services within the organization. This position operates under the guidance of the executive leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Professional Nurse, with at least two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity within community health settings;
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; a Master's degree in Nursing or related fields is preferred;
  • Public Health Certification is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the strategic planning and administration of the organization in accordance with established policies and procedures;
  • Involved in the formulation of administrative guidelines and protocols for nursing services;
  • Leads the execution of approved methodologies and practices that ensure high-quality patient care;
  • Assesses and revises existing administrative practices to enhance staff effectiveness and achieve organizational objectives;
  • Participates in the evaluation and analysis of the overall effectiveness of nursing programs;
  • Ensures the proper execution of clinical record reviews on a quarterly basis;
  • Maintains the integrity of public information and outreach initiatives;
  • Supervises the classification and description of nursing roles;
  • Recruits and retains a skilled and organized nursing staff to meet the needs of patients and their families;
  • Adjusts qualifications in line with state regulations;
  • Establishes staffing models that reflect the necessary quality and quantity of personnel for optimal patient care;
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary coordination of care;
  • Promotes and upholds standards for high-quality care delivery by all team members;
  • Provides mentorship and training to enhance practice within the organization;
  • Forms service committees to achieve the objectives of nursing services;
  • Engages with staff and supervisors regarding patient care, special initiatives, or service programs;
  • Collaborates with physicians on matters related to patient care services;
  • Regularly reviews policies related to patient care with the Advisory Committee and senior staff;
  • Encourages professional development through:
    • Utilizing the skills of nursing and allied health personnel in developing orientation and training programs;
    • Identifying leadership potential and providing opportunities for growth;
    • Supporting ongoing education and active participation in professional organizations;
    • Fostering partnerships with educational institutions for student training opportunities.
  • Ensures continuous evaluation of nursing programs by:
    • Assessing service policies and recommending necessary changes;
    • Evaluating individual performance against established standards;
    • Reflecting on personal job performance and resource utilization for professional growth;
    • Reviewing the overall nursing program in relation to organizational goals.
  • Serves on the Advisory Committee;
  • Participates in community health organizations and activities;
  • Engages in state and national health-related meetings and workshops as appropriate;
  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of home health care personnel;
  • Consults with physicians as needed to ensure safe and effective patient care;
  • Sets mutual goals and standards for achievement;
  • Develops and maintains referral sources and relationships within the healthcare community;
  • Strives to build positive relationships with community resources associated with home care services.

Organizational Structure

Reports directly to the President.

Special Requirements

Must possess a vehicle with appropriate insurance and a valid driver's license or reliable transportation.

Functional Abilities

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and physically perform the duties required by the position.
