Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is tasked with executing a range of engineering functions, collaborating with regional and central support teams to enhance the performance of all plant equipment. This position emphasizes the development and implementation of innovative engineering solutions aimed at reducing life cycle costs associated with operations and maintenance challenges, while also supporting the planning and execution of capital projects in line with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and evaluate predictive maintenance programs for equipment;
- Lead investigations into root causes of equipment failures;
- Identify and communicate risks throughout the asset life cycle;
- Conduct engineering studies at both plant and system levels;
- Present recommendations to management and stakeholders to foster consensus and ensure successful project outcomes;
- Develop detailed capital improvement initiatives, including scope definitions, investment analyses, and execution strategies;
- Assess and recommend contractors and technical service providers;
- Engage internal and external experts as necessary;
- Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with company standards, including drawings and reference materials;
- Utilize central information systems for accurate project costing;
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license preferred; candidates must pursue licensure upon hire;
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in an engineering setting, with a focus on power generation being advantageous;
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Willingness to travel as necessary;
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple projects;
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly AutoCAD and MicroStation.
