The Nursing Administration Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating nursing services and hospital operations during off-peak hours, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights, to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides strategic administrative oversight and decision-making for patient nursing care during off-peak hours.
  • Communicates the philosophy, objectives, standards, and goals of the Patient Care Division to staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges while ensuring adequate nursing personnel staffing.
  • Collaborates with on-call hospital administrators regarding operational and management challenges.
  • Conducts rounds with nursing staff to assess and plan for patient care needs.
  • Facilitates the orientation of new personnel and provides guidance to per diem staff and private duty nurses.
  • Identifies the educational needs of nursing staff and works with the Education Department to address them.
  • Organizes and leads patient care conferences to evaluate needs, plan nursing interventions, and discuss discharge planning.
  • Participates in divisional meetings and leads Charge Nurse meetings during shifts, contributing to Patient Care Services and hospital committees.
  • Ensures the delivery of exceptional customer service, resulting in improved patient satisfaction scores.
  • Oversees all hospital activities as delegated by the hospital administrator.
  • Evaluates staff performance and contributes to the Performance Appraisal process.
  • May engage in direct nursing care as needed.
  • Guides nursing staff in utilizing the nursing process and performing necessary patient care activities.
  • Assists nursing staff with accurate documentation of patient records.
  • Collaborates with medical staff to optimize patient management.
  • Promotes a therapeutic environment through effective interaction with patients, families, nursing, and medical personnel.
  • Enhances the knowledge and skills of nursing staff to implement the nursing process effectively.
  • Provides career guidance and encourages ongoing educational development for nursing staff.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a leadership or administrative role.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master's degree in Nursing.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Registered Nurse license in New Jersey.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
