Title: Field Services Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Services Manager is tasked with supervising relay technicians, substation specialists, and field engineers. This role encompasses various work disciplines, including maintenance and testing of substation equipment, relay assessments, and addressing technical field challenges. The Field Services Manager will also be responsible for the planning and scheduling of annual work activities, outages, and compliance with regulatory standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead substation, protection and control (P&C), and field engineering teams.
  • Provide clear guidance and expectations to team members.
  • Conduct regular meetings and provide updates on assignments.
  • Organize annual maintenance testing and associated outages.
  • Review equipment and relay test data, identifying abnormalities and initiating corrective actions.
  • Maintain the company's annual maintenance work plan.
  • Document and report on outage events and operational activities.
  • Ensure thorough documentation and resolution of system events.
  • Guide safety assessments and documentation.
  • Organize quarterly safety meetings.
  • Manage resources for new project commissioning and SCADA testing.
  • Review and approve electrical isolation plans for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with NERC, ERCOT, TRE, and PUC requirements.
  • Develop performance reports on field services.
  • Oversee contractor resources working on company systems.
  • Manage preventive and corrective work orders.
  • Support the implementation of the asset management database.
  • Assist in managing the maintenance program and safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate with various internal departments.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for field operations.
  • Enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency through improved processes.
  • Assist in managing the operations and maintenance budget.
  • Support resolution of SCADA alarms and telemetry issues.
  • Coordinate resources for switching and clearance operations.
  • Manage on-call schedules and overtime for staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years in substation or protection and control maintenance; 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills: Familiarity with ERCOT protocols, NERC compliance, and substation equipment.
  • Certificates: Relevant training preferred (e.g., OSHA 30, NESC).
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Competencies: Strong communication, organization, documentation, and planning skills.
