Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team at Black & Veatch Corporation. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating, refining, and implementing network designs, communicating directly with clients to identify current and future network and telecommunication needs, and collaborating with network engineers to assess and understand how industry standards for models apply to network design and implementation best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, refine, and implement network designs
  • Communicate directly with clients to identify current and future network and telecommunication needs
  • Collaborate with network engineers to assess and understand how industry standards for models apply to network design and implementation best practices
  • Participate in technical projects and application roll-outs
  • Assist in developing and managing scope, schedule, and budget requirements

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of network-related work experience and critical infrastructure experience
  • Knowledge of IP and Data Network Design and engineering design principles, guides, and standards
  • Experience in translating design and evaluation of Data Networks (i.e. IP, Cybersecurity, Firewall, etc.)
  • Specific product knowledge and hands-on configuration and procurement experience on a variety of Network vendors
  • Understanding of various Protocols such as but not limited to serial communications, TCP/IP eBGP, iBGP, OSPF, EIGRP MPLS
  • Understanding of, and have experience with, most of the following network technologies: 802.1q, QoS, NAT, ACLs, IPSEC, and SNMP
  • Experience with configuring, testing, and evaluating IP packet networks
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, and integrating Data Network devices such as routers, switches, fiber, and cable management, and rack power distribution
  • Professional network documentation skills, including, but not limited to the development and updating of network drawings, rack layouts, cut sheets, and various technical deliverables
  • Strong written communication skills, especially pertaining to creating and publishing professional processes and procedures, including System Requirements, Method of Procedures (MOPs), work packages, Request for Information (RFI), and Request for Proposals (RFP), among other related deliverables
  • Knowledge of telecommunications technologies and design
  • Strong ability to scope engineering deliverable content
  • Knowledge of industry and technology trends
  • Experience with technical proposals
  • Knowledge of network power systems and requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional level vendor-recognized certifications

Work Environment/Schedule:

Our hybrid work approach allows our employees to work two days a week from other locations outside of the office. This opportunity will be based out of our Overland Park, KS office.

This role may require up to 25% travel.
