Job Summary:

As a Pharmacist Local Specialty at Walgreens, you will oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring the highest level of customer service and adherence to policy and procedure. Your responsibilities will include managing workflow, clinical management of patients, continuous quality improvement, and compliance with internal and external regulatory bodies. You will also be responsible for pharmacy sales, expense control, and inventory management, as well as developing and protecting department assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure department personnel provide hospitable service and information to customers.
Respond to customer inquiries and complaints, maintaining and improving the overall image of the pharmacy department.
Manage the daily operation of the pharmacy department, improving prescription numbers, pharmacy sales, profit, and image through accurate filling of prescriptions and courteous service to customers.
Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures relating to prescription incidents and the Quality Improvement Program.
Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations and Company policies governing all drugs and products, maintaining required records, documentation, and reports.
Recommend and implement asset protection controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss.
Improve and maintain pharmacy department housekeeping, maintenance, and appearance for the safety, health, and well-being of customers and employees, and ensure adherence to applicable government regulations and laws.
Control the store's safe and 'bank,' including electronic register readings, cash withdrawals, cash accounts, daily cash reports, cash over and short records, and other reports related to cash management.
Assure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department systems and equipment.
Maintain awareness of third-party pharmacy business opportunities and assure proper administration and implementation of third-party pharmacy systems and procedures to lessen payment rejections.
Resolve third-party rejection problems promptly and resubmit rejected claims for payment on a timely basis.
Manage and control Prescription Department inventory, adhering to Company buying procedures and recommending and ordering merchandise from proper internal and external sources.
Supervise pharmacy department team members to assure performance of required functions and adherence to Company policies and procedures, ensuring proper licensure of all pharmacy department personnel.
Confirm pharmacy department employees are trained on all required functions regarding payer and pharmaceutical contractual requirements, including adverse event reporting, data and inventory reporting, and clinical management.
Reaffirm with all pharmacy department personnel, on a regular basis, their obligations regarding the dispensing of prescriptions only in good faith.
Audit own performance and recommend own objectives and standards of performance, maintaining an awareness of developments in the pharmacy, health care, and retail management fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrating them into own practices.
Maintain and develop good working relationships with physicians and other health professionals, working collaboratively with the Local Specialty Pharmacy staff.
