The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports.
Key Responsibilities- Review and interpret federal legislation, rules, standards, and regulations pertaining to accounting and financial management.
- Analyze and evaluate agency-wide accounting operations, policies, procedures, and systems for compliance with standards and internal controls.
- Participate in the design of and implements and assesses internal control processes and systems pertaining to agency-wide accounting and financial management activities.
- Prepare, analyze, interpret, review, and present accounting data, reports, and financial statements.
- Provide technical support to the financial statement audit.
- Apply cost accounting methodologies to agency-wide data and systems, in partnership with business units, to report the cost of major activities for management information purposes.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Qualifications: Degree in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (and/or auditing).
- Specialized Experience: One (1) full academic year of graduate level education in a related field of study such as accounting, business administration, finance, or public administration.
- Superior Academic Achievement: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last 2 years of study.
- One (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the federal service.
