Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer - Simulation & Training

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Simulation and Training Solutions group in Sterling, VA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the development, modification, integration, and testing of aircraft and ground vehicle training simulators for military and commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and lead design efforts for advanced complexity mechanical hardware, including mentoring junior engineers.
  • Lead hardware engineering requirements capture, analysis, and creation for complex components of mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical design is appropriate for project/product design approach.
  • Champion processes and tools during development of hardware, driving improvement where applicable.
  • Report and manage status relating to technical performance, cost, and schedule for assigned scope of work.
  • Present design and project material for customer reviews and meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 5 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued secret security clearance or higher.
  • Experience with technical design documentation, traditional sheet metal fabrication, machined parts, and weldments.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks Software Computer Aided Design (CAD) and MS Office Applications/Office 365.
